I can't say if the artwork itself replicates that of the original albums to the last illegible bit of text, but they do look good and feel durable. The outer box is really heavyweight cardstock. As for the sound quality anyone with an audiophile setup will be able to notice a clear difference between sq in the earier albums here and (say) the HDCD remasters. The sq here is the 'honest' original sound without any artifice, boost, bricking or tinkering.
To my ears this current set provides the best sq compromise by far. Thoroughly recommended even if you have all the albums already, just for the original 'sound'.
This boxset is seriously good. I urge everyone that is doubting over buying this: just buy it! For a price of only £50 on Amazon, this is a steal.
Every studio album is presented here in a very nice way, all gatefold sleeves. A 2-disc compilation is added containing all B-sides, alternative mixes and remixes.
The only negative thing you could say is there are no booklets with detailed information. But don't let that hold you back.On the sound quality: these are all flat transfers of the original master tapes which means very good sound quality. These discs are in no way compressed, brickwalled or whatever. So you can really crank the volume up without it hurting or becoming unpleasant to your ears. They all have very nice dynamics and sound very good to my ears.
