This is a very good popcorn popper. I searched for a long time to get the right mix of ingredients to create 'Theatre Tasting' popcorn. Here is what I found. I used ingredients from Grand Rapids Popcorn Company. They are local for me and they supply a lot of theaters. Here is the recipe they gave me and it is great.Use Popcorn oil. They have peanut and sunflower oils of which I couldn't tell a difference in taste and much healthier than coconut oil.
I also use their Flavorcal salt. When you follow the recipe and method, it works out great. 1) Use 1/3 cup Oil. 2) 1 Cup Popcorn 3) 1 tsp Flavorcal.

Amazing product. We eat popcorn almost every day and my kids absolutely love it! Both my kids made popcorn before I could and it is that easy that my 10 year old who does nothing for himself makes the popcorn. To quote my 14 year old daughter 'This is the best thing'. I finally made a batch myself last night and could not believe they have gone through almost a whole bottle of popcorn already - My kids and I agree say that it is much better then microwave popcorn in a bag.
I also love the fact that I keep kosher and it is very hard to find Parave popcorn (not dairy) and now I can make it that way - actually I will be buying a second one because my kids already added butter and loved how you could just put the. They work fantastically and you can really give your popcorn that buttery glaze during the popping process that everyone loves. I had an older model and someone else in my house who im not going to call out in this review, (cough Mia) turned on the burner and scorched my first one of these beyond repair or salvage so i bought this one and it has been quite the popcorn work horse.
The wooden hand looks good, is comfortable and stays cool. The actuator arm that spins works smoothly and stirs the kernels just right. The trick is to find the right recipe and tempo for what you want. I like mine to be light but buttery so i add oils, salts.
I purchased the Great Northern Popcorn 8 oz foundation vintage style popcorn machine and Cart for my home theater. Assembly was simple, easy and straight forward. The stirring motor is very quiet and it looks very well made. The kettle has a notch at bottom of the stirrer that should knock the lids closed should they open fully during the popping cycle. The notch isn't long enough and only scrapes one of the lids but not enough for it to close.The popcorn scoop that I received isn't correct for this machine. I measured the scoop by pouring the popcorn into a measuring cup. The scoop that came with this popper is 1/2 cup.
