Other members of the crew are First officer and science officer Spock played by Leonard Nimoy and is often compared with the crew’s captain Kirk, another crew member is the chief medical officer Leonard McCoy who is played by DeForest Kelly.The storyline of the show is based about the year 2260’s and the time is measured in startime in the series. The initial series got the name after its fame as Star Trek: The Original Series so that it always stands out amongst the massive fan along with media franchise.

I actually started working my way through this about 2005 or 2006, and I am nearly finished the Gold Key issues. They're not very good, especially the first few years. The Italian artist had never seen the show, and could only work off stills, which led to some ridiculous art, like a blond Scotty (no publicity still of James Doohan) or rocket flames shooting out of the Enterprise nacelles. The first Marvel period is way, way better than the Gold Key period, but still not good - too much season 3 quality and not enough of seasons 1 and 2. Part of the problem has to be the lack of a consistent creative team - Martin Pasko wrote maybe half the books, and Dave Cockrum did the pencils on 8 of them, but rarely together, and the other contributors were regularly changed.

Also, there are no continuing storylines, every story is resolved within a single issue. There were some nice stories, but overall it was a bit of a jumbled mess.Next up - the first DC run, which started in early 1984.
